damaged muscle?

It feels as if I've somehow damaged a muscle in my thigh following a ride I did on Sunday.

Looking at this diagram http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/exercise-workout/leg-muscle-exercise-anatomy.html It's somewhere in the Vastus Lateralis region.

The area feels generally 'warm' 'tingly' and occasionally 'pings' - I can't say I'm in any major pain or discomfort from it, but don't want to over-stress it and potentially do more damage.

Suggestions appreciated on treatment or thoughts on what I've done.

  • I may have something very similar to yourself, which has been long-term. A sort of low level stinging pain in that region of the thigh when the pressure goes on while climbing in the saddle. It could be a trapped nerve in the back or something to do with the Iliotibial Band (ITB).

    Again, any suggestions out there welcome!
