New front wheel?

Guys, I'm after some wheel advice. I recently accidentally got off my CAAD9 and smashed up a few spokes (Shimano WH 500A). I took the wheel straight to the LBS who, two months later, had still failed to fix it - citing that Shimano don't have any spokes left. Does this sound plausible?

I'm about to take the wheel to another shop but need a Plan B in case they can't get the spokes either. Plan B is currently to buy a new (cheap) front wheel. Do I have to match my wheels, or can I use a wonky wheelset?

Cheers!

Not sure about the spoke situation but as far as mixing wheels I personally don't see a problem. I would however try to grt one visually as near as you can. I have a pair of wheels that came off a Scott bike which had matching rims but one hub was branded shimano, the other Scott. Might even sell [split if you were interested].
Good luck with your search whatever way you go,
hope this can be of some help, Alan
