A very flawed personality, but anyone who saw him play will know he was the most exciting player ever to pick up a cue. And certainly the fastest, he made Ronnie O'sullivan seem like the slow boat to China.

Died today after a long battle with throat cancer.

    RIP. The archetypal flawed genius? Amazed he made to 61 tbh. Not a nice bloke, but supremely gifted.

    REal shame. I grew up watching snooker when all the players had character and he was deffo number 1.

    I saw him wagamamas in manchester not long ago, long coat, trilbyand behaved liek a real gent. Kept leaving his meal to open the door for the women leaving with their children. RIP indeed. :cry:
