Well, one of my bike specific brushes has been making my bike dirtier then to begin with, then I realised it was because there is bike chain oil and muck on it, so i thought, well I'll just clean it off, so i used some kitchen degreaser, didn't work, used some toilet cleaner, didn't work!

how the hell can I clean it so I can then clean my bike!?!? have you ever had this problem?

    I have 3 brushes...

a big brush which goes nowhere near oily parts.
a medium sized brish...that might catch a little oil..
a small brush (with that jaggy sprocket cleaner thingy on it) which only gets used on oil bits.

I guess you could try a bike style degreaser spray to clean it?

easier not to get your big washy brush oily in the first place.

    :D

I've found Cif works. In fact it's the only thing I've found takes the black crud off things.

Sounds like you're letting your bike get rather mucky. I tend to find my brush are spotless after bike cleaning since they to have been soaked in cleaner.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

I tried it on the alloys on the car. It took the paint off!
