ok, so I decided tofit some new pedals but couldn't get my old ones off with a basic spanner so I got the best pedel wrench I could find and managed to loosen both pedals (just!). After loosening both sides further - about half a dozen revolutions the pedels weren't unscrewing from the crank arm at all, I tried using an alan key in the back as well. Am I right in thinking the pedals are cross threaded? has anyone got a solution to my problem? seems strange to me both pedals could be cross threded in the same way. Cheers in advance, Rich.

  • It sounds very much like you have stripped the threads in the cranks. Did you Know/remember that the left pedal has a left hand thread and unscrews the 'wrong way'? See here

The right hand pedal has a right hand thread and unscrews as in all the other bolts. If your pedals are turning but not coming out of the cranks you might have caused irreperable damage already. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news if this is the case.

Either crank threads are knackered, pedal threads are knackered or both. - Sorry mate. Most likely cranks, softer metal.

http://www.highpath.net/ - these guys do a crank repair service if thats whats needed.

    Its pedals, not pedels, BTW.
