Midlands Maintanence course needed (midlands)

Does anyone know of a college, bike shop or privately run maintanence course in the Midlands area. Im a total novice looking for a good basic knowledge with maybe a view to doing a qualification through Cytech at some point, and possible career change in the future, although i believe spanner monkey salaries are cack..
