I am looking for a new pair of road shoes and have approx £200 to spend, so what do you guys recommend?
I am looking at Spesh S-Works and Sidi ergo's, but wondered if there are any others I should look at as well such as Gaerne, lake etc.
Cheers

Agree with Dennis but if Sidi Ergo's fit nicely then you can't go wrong.0

You def need to try some on, personally I'd go for the s-works though if they feel comfy. Mind you mine don't feel especially comfortable when you first put them on but once on the bike they're great. Sidi, Shimano, Bont and Gaerne are all worth checking out to.0

wow, where from?
I just tried on a pair of ergo2's in a 45 and they fitted a bit snug and the 46 were too big, mind you I did have work socks on so I may go back in cycling socks. The spesh in a 44 fit fine so that may be the route I take although I keep swaying back to sidi, do they come in half sizes?Obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated!0 -

s-works.
but then every foot is different even your right and left. so get them measured and go from there. Sidi's do 1/2 sizes and I may be wrong in thinking they do differing widths too?! not sure tho.
Got some Spesh S-works last month and some speedplays after using MTB shoes and pedals. SO awesome. I never thought the upgrade would make such a difference to riding the bike! Everything seems more direct!Up: Wilier Mortirolo

Sidi don't do half sizes, but the fit is amazingly adjustable, I can wear mine with thick merino socks and ultra thin ones. A little tweak of the heel cup and move the ratchet strap and i'm good to go winter or summer.
The replaceable bits is also a boon.0 -

They do, but many retailers don't stock them.0 -
Yes they really do half sizes. Sidi cafe do the halfs ..... although their prices are not the cheapest.

Sidi Ergos are an amazing shoe but be wary with the sizing; they're quite narrow and you may have to go one/half size up. Always best to try them on before comitting.
Also, the stock footbeds (in the 2009 model at least) are shocking for a shoe of that price.....really you may need to budget for a decent insole.Where\'s me jumper?0 -
Sidi Ergo II's in White... 'nuff said.Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0

I like the DHB Carbons.
When you've got that kind of money to spend, well worth getting the right Spesh insoles for your feet to go with them.0 -
Been doing some more research and have decided that in Sidi I really need a size 45.5 which may possibly be too expensive for me.
I have found some 2009 S-works Boa's for £150 which really appeal, and in my size as well which I may go for but have started looking at Bont. Anyone have these and if so what do you reckon, Sky cycling and the British track squad seem to like them, and they are heat mouldable.
