I've been chatting with a couple of friends about riding after a group of lads we know decided to cycle London-Paris and it looks like we're buying road bikes and doing a Coast to Coast next year!
I've never bought a road bike before through being worried of not using it enough but it looks like I might not have that excuse any more...

I did a ondon to Paris relay ride on my rigid mountain bike with slicks, ended up doing 150miles in 3 days (half of the full distance) :D

Just got a road bike myself. Definitely a lot of fun! My advice would be to go 2nd hand, you can get so much more for your money, just as with MTB.

I work part time in my LBS so it would be silly not to take advantage of trade prices!
