Crank Brothers pedals (2 hole) on 3 hole road shoe?

Is there any way to convert a three hole road shoe to work with 2 hole crank brothers pedals?
CB used to do a 3 hole to 2 hole adapter, but now that they have stopped doing the Quatttro pedal, they have also stopped the adapter - scoured the internet, no joy - any ideas on other options? Or is it a no go?

You could get your drill out and make your own holes, then fit some M5 T-nuts (bend the spikey bits back with some pliers).
I did this with my Shimano R160 shoes and it's worked fine, but I take no responsibility for anyone destroying a perfectly good pair of shoes or anyone's horrible death when bodged cleats pull out as they accelerate to avoid a runaway truck.0 -
the easiest way is road shoes with 2-bolt holes as well.0

I already have the three hole shoes, hence the issue - the shimano thing may work, but looks bulky and adds a bit of height to the foot plate. mmmmmm0

Main problem I found with 2 hole cleats on road shoes is that to work properly with crank bros pedals you need some tread or "pontoons" either side of the cleat resting on the pedal body.
They used to do 3 hole cleats (I have 2 spare pairs but there don't seem to be any in the country and they don't seem to be importing them to the UK). they are still listed on the crank bros website here:

And they might ship out of the US, I haven't tried.
Otherwise, get some stiff MTB shoes and use those.
You will feel like you are pedalling on ice without the pontoons/tread/surround.0 -
I'm guessing you want the floating version rather than the fixed version?
There are still one or two places that claim to stock the 3-hole fixed cleat. Here for instance:

If you've got an old pair of 3-hole cleats then you can cannibalise the bits you need from the fixed version onto the base plate bit of your old cleats

It's very easy to do exactly that...and it works just fine. Rub some sandpaper over the cut edge and nobody'll ever guess you're wearing butchered cleats.
