Nah i'm not fussed... I know i'm gonna pay more because i'm younger/less no claims!

Oops though i did sit up the tailpipe of an audi r8, i think he was hitting his limiter anyway he didn't like me one bit, shouldn't have goaded me.

This was on a private test track mind........

Fastest for me was a mates evo6, 170mph was a bit rapid, though i did get a ride in an 800hp skyline with a driver who held a racing license.

Needless to say you didn't see the car accelerate as everything just blurred.

  • Would love to go round the 'burg. I'd just crash by pretending to be on Gran Turismo

The pug *should* hopefully be upto around 206 gti bhp soon with a few exhaust/breather mods which should be nice as its a lighter block (I have the 1.6 16v).

But its not going round a track until I have coilovers

Fastest and craziest car I've ever been in was a custom 205 car made for rallying. Had an escort cosworth 4x4 transmission, and a twin turbo Rover V8, mid mounted. The whole chassis was reworked as a spaceframe with complete rollcage, with the body kind of welded on like a radio control car. Custom made twin wishbones all round, and holy sweet mary mother of jeebus that thing could fly.

But still not as much fun as a race tuned Fireblade round the isle of Man TT course
  • noice... gotta love the 205!
A guy I knew from another forum had a completely stripped 106 gti with pretty much nothing standard and it flew.
It had a sequential gearbox which was NUTS.

    actually.. here is bics 106..

Same/very similar engine to mine standard :D

The R8 maxs out at 185 iirc, and unless you changed the gearbox to something else the Impreza wouldn't touch that speed.

If he wasnt refering to top speed but acceleration instead, still the standard 4.2 R8 would smash the Impreza even if it is modded to 307bhp.

It has 414bhp, lighter, more torque etc etc.

Love it when people talk sh*t about cars.

Best laugh we had at a trackday was when one young lad turned up a Jap car track day at Brands Hatch in a Pug 406 diesel estate. We were all busy putting slicks on and sorting out the harnesses etc; his trackday prep consisted of removing the placcy wheel trims

I used to have a 205 GTI as a trackday toy - top fun 8) But had to sell it to make way for an Evo 6

Anyone thinking about doing a trackday, get yourself down to Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire. My favourite track by a country mile and well worth the trip. Just search on Youtube for some in-car footage and decide for yourself 8)

Just be warned, trackdays are addictive and a seriously expensive hobby. Compared to bikes anyway...

Have you been to the NEW Anglesey circuit? It used to be called Ty Croes (where 5th gear did a lot of their testing) but it has been completely reworked into a much better track. Now includes a banked hairpin, and a laguna seca-esque corkscrew!
If you're into your track days, it's definitely worth checking out. Awesome stuff.

Nope, went to the old Ty Croes circuit a few years back but have only seen pics of the new one - by all accounts top notch. I can understand why 5th Gear test there.

That said, the Top Gear test track is a real hoot as well - so much run off so you can really go balls out and see how close to some of the Stig's times you can get. Just a pity its difficult to get the owners to let anyone other than TG to use it regularly.
