Caliper brakes and tyre width question

Hi everyone,
Just a quick question.
What are the thickest tyres that will fit with caliper brakes?
My Dad has a Trek Pilot 1.0 and he wants thicker tyres for light touring. I wanted to get some 32c schwalbe marathons but i'm unsure if they will be ok with the Alloy dual pivot brakes.
Can anyone tell me?

It depends on the drop of the calliper. I fthe bike is fitted with 49 drop callipers then 25s wiil be his limit, if he has 57 drop callipers, unlikely then 32s might fit.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
