I have noticed that there is a little bit of play in the BB on my Genesis Core 20, its not noticeable when riding its when i grab the crank arm and move it ....
What i'm wondering is is it likely to just need tightening up ? or would i be best stripping it down and replacing bearings etc ... ?
Thanks ...

what is the crankset?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Hi Nick, i'm not sure to be honest, its just the standard one that came with the bike, its a 2009 Genesis Core 20

it could be Square taper or Octalink.
FC-M442 is Square taper FC-M442-8 is the octalink.
numbers will be on the back of the cranks.
when you move one are does the other move as well? if yes the BB is on the way out If not the arms are lose tighten up TIGHT and take the allen key with you on the next few rides to check it is still tight."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

yes when i move one side it moves the otherside too .... and its the square taper ...
So if i need to replace does the bike frame have to be skimmed ? seem to remember reading some thing about it some where ...
Thanks Nick0 -
it depends on what you want to fit.
only if you are changing the whole lot to a HT2 set up (or other external bearing set up)."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
