Play in Bontrager rhythm comp hub

The front hub on my 2009 Trek ex 8 has developed a little play thats noticeable while riding.
Is there anything that can be adjusted or is it new bearings time?
I think their cartridge bearings that need a tool to get to.
Is there a tool needed to refit bearings?

    cartridge bearings replace them. Knock them out and press back in.

    Looks like i trip to my lbs for the tool to crack it open!
    can i tap the bearings home with a socket or something?

    I've managed to replace the Bearings in my front hub without any issues.
    The only thing I'm not sure about is how tight I'm supposed screw the thing back together?
    If i tighten it so the hub fits in the fork dropouts properly the wheel doesn't spin freely.
    if i back it off a bit the wheel spins great but its hard to fit in the drop outs and my brake has no more adjustment on the disc :?

    Any ideas?

    The nut onto the axel that goes into the hub. the two ends tighten against the two cartridge bearings if you nip them up making the wheel stiff.

    I'd of thought you tighten them up just enough so the bearings are untouched but its too hard to refit the wheel.

    as above sounds like the outer races need seating.

    the bits you should have had something pressing on when you fitted the bearings. (the outer metal bits as opposed to the inner race which you should not have touched).
