I will be running through the shallow sea surf and sand dunes at Dinas Dinlle beach.

Flat, wide, pure golden sand. Marram grass and rocky dunes.

No tourists during the week.

5 miles long, all to myself.

In my mind the "Chariots of Fire" theme will be gently playing.

THIS is what Day's Off are all about.

In my youth, I used to do the Chariots of Fire run regularly along the West Sands in St Andrews (where it was filmed). In fact, some of my mates were extras in that very scene (they got a haircut and some retro running kit for their efforts and had to run extra slowly for the benefit of the actors!).

OH happy days! (I have long since given up running for pleasure).

Well, there was a bloody horrible headwind going out!
Few dog walkers, but generally deserted. Great!

Sandy blowing everywhere across the beach. Also, local Caernarfon airport had a RAF chopper doing emergency landing practices, so peace/quiet wasn't apparent.

Turned round, and had a nice tailwind back to the car.

Did about 2.5 miles, soft sand, jelly fish in places, nice run.

BUT...Ice cream shops shut - for lunch - apparently!!! DOH!
