A dream bike for me wouldn't out of a mould from the far east.

Give a me Parlee Z1 or Z2 or a Colnago EPS with Super Record or Di2.

I thought Pinarello was made in italy along with cervelo or am I being thick?

Both are definitely made in the far east. Cervelo is a Canadian company, now based in Switzerland with the majority of frames made in the far east, with the new "Project California" frame being made in the US. Pinarello might paint their frames in Italy but the frames come out of a mould in the far east.

From a materials/engineering perspective there's nothing at all wrong with a far east frame, they're just not something I'd ever have as part of a "dream bike".

My Cervelo S2 came in a box that said 'MADE IN CHINA' on the side :o

I'd have a Crumpton or a Vanilla. Or an EPS in Zabel colours. Or a Parlee.

My Cervelo S2 is fab but, well, to me it's not a dream bike, just really really good. It doesn't 'Do it' for me in the way one of the above listed does... They may not even ride as well as the Cervelo.

Why don't you buy your dream bike than nap? It's not like your short of cash. A Parlee isn't that much more than a Cervelo. I've never ridden one though, so you maybe right about the Cervelo being a better ride.

Not for the price I got the Cervelo for!!

Besides, it really does ride 'perfect' for me...

Better discount than your Zipps?
I don't think the niche framebuilders will produce anything that rides better than the major brands, but if that's what you want.....
.I always buy what I want, rather than what I need

I wouldn't have a pimarello (looks ugly) or a cervelo (nice but leaves me cold really) I know I'm being picky...

Made to measure carbon Viner for me I think, changes week on week though.

Having said that the BMC Pro Machine is/was my dream bike, but now a reality. Good thing about road bikes is that they are obtainable and not a dream or fantasy for too long.

I'd be sorely tempted to get a project one Trek Madone 6.9 so I could choose my spec, colour scheme, stem and bar size etc...... but then I'd probably buy a Lynskey Helix and blow a wad of cash on speccing it with Campag Super Record, Easton EC90 wheels, forks, bar, stem, seatpost and a Fizik Aliante carbon saddle

Must be bad $hit you're smokin' if the best dream you can have is a Trek....

To qualify for a dream bike, the criteria would need to be something like:

Is from a prestigous maker with established reputation i..e. from top-end bikes not mass-marketing of low-rent stuff
Has a decent race pedigree - preferrably not just races in July
Unique design - not a mass-market producer or 'badged' product
Ideally has the provenance of the touch of a 'master'
    Has class-leading handling and performance..

My current dream generally involves custom stainless steel from the likes of Pegoretti / Vanilla / Speedvagen

    ..let the debate continue
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Thought I had my dream bike (IndyFab Ti Crown Jewel) until I started looking at the Zullo Vergine. Classic Italian, racing pedigree, exclusive etc............

Is two dream bikes too many?

Let the record show: only the front triangle of the Pinarello Dogma is made in Asia, the rear triangle, the bonding, and all finishing is done by hand in Italy.

Gold Orbea Orca with Campag Record for me :D Not sure about the wheels though - perhaps a pair of Lightweights?
