i think you're right and whatever fits your budget. 991 deals come round often at CRC0 -
ive looked but theres loads of different chains!
how can they be so different?0 -
SRAM PC991 Cross-step is at a madly cheap price on Wiggle for some reason:

even the rrp at 27 is low !! crc is 27 rrp 39
mistake?
ill find out0 -
just realised they are out of stock - good job I ordered one a couple of weeks ago...
Sorry - I assumed they were still in stock. I was even thinking of ordering an extra one for myself!0 -
lock1981 depending on how worn the cassette and chainrings are should determine how much you spend on the chain. if things are worn and going to need changing in the next 4 months then get a cheap SRAM chain. If things are relatively new then spend more. no need to go above the standard PC991 at £20 though.0

yeah i was hust gunna ask....how do i know if i need a new cassette and rings? i know your supposed to do them all together but how do you tell if there worn?0

I just use the bog standard 951. Work fine.0

can you push the shimano chain links back through? are they reusable?
if no then that may be the reason why my chain has snapped twice!
just seen replacment pins in merlin0 -
No, shimano pins are not reusable.0
-
ah!!! well thats why it keeps snapping ill just order some power links and re join it for now then... i can do that right?0
-
Yes, powerlinks work fine.0
