Must say great site and lots of great advise.
i'm new to mountain biking and looking for a HT. i will be doing a bit of everthing, but mainly xc and roads and some DH. Looking to spend £600-700. The trek 6000 has caught my eye, would this be a good bike? Wanna buy a decent bike that will last and has a decent spec. Thanks in advance for the advice.

XC roads and DH? No hardtail at this price will handle all that well.
What sort of DH do you intend to do?0 -
to be honest it'll be mainly XC with a bit of roads thrown in. if i do any down hill at all it'll be nothing too crazy, and if i was to do more down hill i would deff look into getting a full sus bike.0

The trek is a pretty much an XC bike through and through, and will only handle light and small drops and jumps.
If wanting something a bit burlier have a look at the GT Avlanche or Agressor series.0 -
thanks for the advice
looking at the different disiplines and probably enduro/all mountain would best describe what ill be doing mostly. would the GT Avlanche or Agressor cover this?0 -
Yeah, but nothing too extreme. You can get even tougher hardtails but likely to weigh a lot more at this price. Norco do some good models with jump forks.0

The GT range or the Giant XTC's both makes discounted on Pauls if you go for last years models so you can get more spec for you cash....also the Boardman is worth a look0
