BB play

Am fixing a mates BMX, last thing is the BB, but one that i've never seen:

There is a little play in it, when I hold the crank it can wobble a few mm side to side. Do I need a cone wrench to tighten it? If so, what size?

    Its a US bottom bracket, if there's play in it the bearings are shot

    If you want to tighten it for the mo, use an adjustable

    Ah right, thanks. The bearings don't feel rough or worn, just when I hold the non drive side crank at the pedal and push forwards and backwards, it moves approx. 2mm

    By the way the bolt on the non drive side is reverse threaded :wink:
