Single Speed Chain Slip/Suck

Just converted my hardtail to a single speed. All seems well but when I'm pushing over the top of a hill and putting a lot of power down something will give. I can't replicate it to work out what it is. I currently have the existing deore crank on the 32T ring with the old 9spd chain. I've added a 16T one of these http://bit.ly/auUkrt and one of these chain tensioners http://bit.ly/c2jV27

Can't shorten the chain anymore do I need something like a half link? Or is there a problem with the original crank/chain? Chain line looks good.

    pics of your set up?

    is the chain straight? how much movement in the chain?
    and which way is the tensioner working?

    I'll get some pics up in a bit. Chain looks straight. There's a little movement in the chain but if I took another link out it wouldn't fit. Tensioner is pulling down.

    So what do I need to do to fix it? I can't shorten the chain anymore but I guess that could solve the problem?

    well the rear cog looks to far out. it needs to be at about cog 5 position, 1 being the biggest.

    try that first.

    Thanks Nick i'll give that a go. If there's a chain wrap problem would this improve it?

    Right i've moved the rear cog and still have the problem. I can get it to do it on a hill down the road and it feels as though the chain is slipping although I can't look at it as well as replicate it.

    Thinking about it when I first converted it, it happened all the time until I took a couple of links out so it could still be chain tension. I'm thinking I have two options:

    1. Get a half link for the chain so it'll tension it more although i'm not sure where I can get one from for a 3/32 chain?

    2. Replace the tensioner with one them roller thingys so it's not tensioned by a spring therefore holding the chain tight all the time.

    Thoughts please :D

    OK can you run the tensioner the other way IE pushing up?

    Gusset do 3/32 half links.
