    I reckon he was developed well by Francis. I raced a bit with Christophe in 1991...Lions de Belfort was his team,have the starts sheets and stuff still......he was a lot better than me. Think he was just v good on bike with good guidance from his bro

    Once again the ITT has basically culled the possible GC winners down to next to nothing.
    I can't see the final 2 stages offering up more than a handful of seconds.

    Paris Nice? Unless you count the Prologue, but that never really shapes the final GC there.

    Yeah and when was the last time Paris-Nice was dull?

    Romandie now goes into the mountains, for 2 stages, but manages to avoid putting them in the crucial spots.......................IF their lousy profile maps are to be believed.

    I'm not sure. As much to do with minimal time gaps, IMO.
    We'll see what racing the next two stages bring. They are in the mountains, too.

    To warrant a 23km ITT, they need to be significant, rather than excessive, IMO.
    I'm not sure that they are, however.

    The final stage sees an almost 900 metre climb in nearly 10km, so thats almost 9% for 10km. There is then the descent followed by 7km of largely flat terrain (only 30 metres total climb). Not quite the potential for time gaps that there would be if the end was at the top but the climb should be able to break the leaders up a bit?

    So this guy Porte has zero form riding against top flight racers and yet smashes them..........

    I look at his palmares and fortunately I see in 2009 he was first in Stage 4 of Baby Giro ITT and 3rd in Nat Champ ITT

    He put a minute into almost all the top 30 over the second half of the course so either:

    i) he found a short cut
    ii) he borrowed Cancellara's electric bike
    iii) Cancellara rode it for him in a Porte mask
    iv) the timing ballsed up

    or v) the wind really did switch direction but only for his ride

    Utterly bizarre given the consistency of the times for the other riders at the end compared to their intermediate times.
