I think I've destroyed another Shimano Bottom Bracket. (Ultegra HT2)
How long should they last?

Are there any harder wearing options that will still work with Ultegra crankset?

  Hope and Chris King do ceramic versions.
  
  As do Superstar Components, these are much cheaper than the Hope and Chris King versions, but still get a good write up.
