Rear tyre?

I'm thinking of using my old Trek for the commute to work, but it's still wearing it's very old and slightly brittle Bontrager knobbly tyres.
Are there any suggestions for a tyre that has a low rolling resistance, but doesn't look like a slick tyre. I think it's going to look a bit silly with slicks or similar on it. It will be used mainly on road though.
Also, while I'm at it, is it worth swapping the front tyre, or can I still get away with a more knobbly design for that?

Just get a slick. Will be faster, and better for the road, more grip for a start.
People aren't going to point and laugh lol.

ideally go for a full slick, or halo twin rails or kenda k-rad, like a massive slick and at high pressures roll really really fast.0

I find maxxis holy rollers work realy well on the road and off it.
I run a full knobly on the front (minion) but thats only because I want loads of grip from the front0
