I am new to cycling and am hoping to do some serious touring.
I was thinking of riding the Solent Way which runs from near Christchurch to Emswoth in hants.
Not sure of exact distance but I think its about 60 miles.
I was wondering if anyone out there had cycled the route?
I live in the Portsmouth area and am looking for decent length day routes to build up my bike fitness.

I escaped the Portsmouth area many years ago. There are lots of good riding roads through the South Downs (Harting, Elsted etc) or out through the Meons and so on.
Have you tried riding with the Portsmouth CTC section? http://www.ctcportsmouth.hampshire.org.uk/0
