I wonder how long it will be before there are calls for compulsory helmets for rickshaw passengers.

thats the second rickshaw accident in edinburgh in the last year or so....

I think it was during the festival last year that a woman was dragged into the rear axle by her scarf...

I can't really remember the details, but I do seem to recall that she was in quite a bad way.
Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

Another reason to ban them. Taxis or public transport are much safer.
  • He said it was thought the man jumped from the pedicab while it was moving.

    Says it all

He was the friend of a member on STW forum

Very sad - tragic waste of life. He survived Afghanistan only to die on a night out.

You'd think that a rickshaw wouldn't be able to move fast enough to be a hazard.

You see loads in London. No insurance etc etc.........I would never use one!

I've ridden (driven?) one in Edinburgh. There are a few firms that own them, and as far as I know they are insured. The place I worked at seem well run, with regular maintenance etc. This was a tragic accident, but ultimately the guy jumped from a moving vehicle. People die by being hit by cars all the time, and nobody is calling for those to be banned!
