Cartridge bearings. Regrease or replace?

So today I pulled apart the rear suspension on my Blur LT to remove the shock as it needs a new lower bush.

While I was there I gave the bearings a turn and they were a little on the rough side so I pulled off the seals and there wasn't much of any grease in the bearings so I blasted out the old grease and replaced it with some fresh grease and pressed the seals back in. after a few turns they felt pretty smooth.

So the LBS replaced my bush and I asked the mechanic if he would ever regrease cartridge bearings he basically said no way if they feel worn in any way they should just be replaced.

So is this good advice or is he being over cautious?
