My road bike will be arriving imminently and I'm bound to spend some time on the turbo. Can anyone recommend songs for a playlist?

  • Thanks, keep 'em coming!

  • Mogwai- Young Team served me well for some lengthy intervals last night. Timed the really loud bit in Mogwai Fear Satan with the last 5 mins of the last interval really well, kept me pushing.

I like AC/DC Back in Black, or if you're into your dance music then Trance Around the World which is a 2hr podcast every week by Above & Beyond.

  • Gun's cover of Word Up is brilliant and has the right beats (or whatever) for spinning. Mrs SB used it as her exam piece when she took her spinning instructor exam...

Tenacious D, because it takes your mind off the pain...

Linkin Park, just because it is basic and loud...

  • As someone else has mentioned, 'Du riechst so gut' by Rammstein is a good shout to get your going.

I also spin to Rendezvous 98 by Jean Michel Jarre, Fly Away by Vincent De Moor and anything noisy in general.

(Naturally, the Dutchman in me makes me a Trance fan)

Those two make good quality Trance chunes who's kick really does smash you in the face.

Jon O Bir does too, and, though I thoroughly enjoy his sets live, his stuff in the studio doesn't really turn me on.

Does feel like you're brain is getting kicked in on every beat though :)
  • LOts of trance here! Any more?

If you want Trance, check Tiesto's radio show, "Club Life" and John Digweed's "Transitions" show/podcast. You can download them from loads of places on the web.

The Crystal Method. The first album Vegas is nice and progressive. Electronic music, but no it's not Trance!

This would make a great spinning track (that's not tedious Trance) -

Any of the tracks from Nike's "Increase Your Speed" running CD too like this (for intervals)

    Greenday? Not tedious?

    Come on.

At least Trance and dance music makes no pretention to being musically sophisticated. That's not the point of it.

Next you'll be complaining that the DJs "never play their own instruments".

Greenday pretentious? That's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. The drummer's called Tre Cool FFS - I've rarely come across anybody that takes themselves less seriously. They'd describe themselves as a punk band which is probably the other end of the pretention and sophistication scale.

There's a reason that Trance is called Trance! Personally (and it IS a personal view that I'm not trying to impose on anybody) I find it immensely tedious - especially when spinning.

Pretentious enough to think they have more musical integrity than dance music.

    Go figure.

Childish pointscoring, I know, but I couldn't help smiling at the last line of this article

Don't see much Trance amongst our champions but a little Greenday
