Doed anybody have any guidelines in what order to clean my bike. Frame is no bother, but any time I do it I always seem to do it in the wrong order and the whole thing goes to S**t. Chain gets dirty from derailer etc and everything gets covered again. I have a sportive in a couple of weeks and want to have me bike Spotless. Any ideas would be great.

I've still not perfected it after 7 years of "proper" cycling, but...

    1. Coat the chain and gears in degreaser and give them a good scrub. Do them several times if they're really filthy.

    2. Give the whole bike a rinse down with water, and brush off any heavy muck.

    3. Spray everything except the wheels with Muc Off or something similar and leave for a couple of minutes.

    4. Scrub everything except the wheels with a brush and rinse with water. Repeat 3 and 4 if necessary.

    5. Take off the wheels and clean them separately with soap and water (I avoid cleaning them together with the frame to avoid washing oily grime onto them)

And the more frequently you do it, the easier it is, by a long way.
