It should stay permanently 1hr forward in England, Scotland's got their own parliament, now it's time for their own time zone that's right for them. Come on Scotland, let England have ours.
Never really understood why we muck about with the clocks. If it's too dark in the morning to go to work/school at 8, well just go at 9 instead.
After all the numbers on the clock are pretty arbritary, you don't actually get any more daylight by fiddling with the clocks.
Luckily, my kids can't tell the time yet - and there's no way I want some sort of child genius who learns to tell the time at a very young age. The rule in my house is that if the sun hasn't got his hat on, you don't get out of bed. The clocks going forward means I get weeks, nay months, of an extra hour in bed. Huzzah!
Never be tempted to race against a Barclays Cycle Hire bike. If you do, there are only two outcomes. Of these, by far the better is that you now have the scalp of a Boris Bike.
Is it this sunday, am I going to lose even more sleep getting up for the F1 or gain some or does it happen Sunday night into Monday, arg going to google it

true - but all the tv programmes i watch will be on an hour earlier - and pub will shut earlier - and I'll get thrown out of work earlier - so it sort of forces you to follow suit whether you want to or not....and this gives an impression of extra light cos I'm sleeping through the first couple of hours of it at the moment.
Yaaaay! Lighter evenings! This makes me very happy.
I'm also glad I saw this thread, or I'd have been late for everything on Monday...
Happens to me every year.
there was this woman where i worked years ago who was always making up pathetic excuses why she was late to work. Locking herself into her own house was a good one.
But she turned up late after the clocks went back once and said she'd forgot to change her clock - which if true would have made her an hour early, not late.
I managed to go a whole two days once without realising - me and my flatmate both did - wondered why the television programmes we wanted to watch weren't on.
GMT is just a reference point for the world's time, e.g. a messageboard in America might define it's time as 'GMT +5'.
Reference point, as in the time in Greenwich?
Anyway, as has been said; clocks have nothing to do with hours of daylight.
If you want more hours of daylight, you have to change your location relative to the equator.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.
It's a benchmark that the whole world sets it's time from e.g. if it's '10.17' in the UK it's 'something.17' virtually everywhere in the world (I heard somewhere they used a half hour to set their time zone).

There are even quarter hour time zones in some places I think.

my watch has been on summertime ever since i bought it last June - I've lost the instructions and can't work out how to change it.
sod's law says the instructions will turn sometime this weekend.
Not being touchy or anything but you do realise that the time in winter is GMT.
That is GREENWICH Mean Time
