Ive got my offers for university, however the only area that I'm unsure of for mountainbiking is Southampton. I really like the uni and its a real contender and the majority of my social time will hopefully be with biking friends.

Therefore what is the genral consensus of the riding in the area, and are the trails accessible from the city - short drive or ride in. Is the riding good?

Thanks a lot.

Not far from new forest, loads of un ridden tracks, some great stuff, some normal fire track. Best place near by is Queen Elizabeth Country park, near ports mouth. 25-30min drive, but well worth it. Isle of wight to, had some amazing day trips there!

Excellent bike facilities and there is a mountain bike group within the university.

The Bike User Network has links that include the Southampton University Mountain Bike Club

You could contact them directly and get your answers direct from the horse's mouth
