atm I have a dawes giro 200, not really much good so plan on selling it and getting something better! Want a decent number of gears, 18 at least and a generally good bike with reasonable spec components etc.

Have seen the giant defy range on the web - thinking of the defy 3 but is it any good?

Any other ideas would be appreciated! Also reccomendations would be helpful!

Cheers :D

  • This is a good buy if they have your size?

    Easy choice to me:

Either the 2010 Allez Sport (Tiagra/Sora) 18 spd.
    Or this cube:

They had this Cube model in my LBS on discount and it's very well specced for the money. Ok it's a Triple but thats not a bad thing. You'd still be able to go fast enough.

    My 2p there.
  • Thanks for the advice people.

Will be going to my LBS later this week to have a look at and a try on the specialized allez and anything else similar.

The Giants are nice, and also Merida.
Think we've named all the top dogs there for you.
Cube's LOOK very nice, make you look fast Lol

Of those 2 I'd go for the Cube. Allez's are way too common...;-)

For a budget of only £600 I'd look for a second hand bike that may have retailed for around £1500 about 2-3 years ago. It will have a far better groupset and frame on anything that you buy new for £600.
  • If you're going to your LBS, see if they've got any sale bargains. I was in my LBS on Monday and they had 3/4 v nice bikes with bits of carbon and a mix of 105/Ultegra components between £650-700. Last years model, but very well worth a look. The names of the bikes I can remember were Ridley and BH so not just rubbish reduced to get rid of it.
