Hi

I am wanting to buy some Shimano SPD road shoes,

which are compatible with SPD-SL and Look cleats (triangular ones)

but i was wanting to get some Shimano M520 pedals.

Will these be compatible with the cleats I need for the shoes or will i have to get road pedals instead?

thanks

  • The M520s will not be compatible with SPD-SL shoes, it is possible to buy an adapter, but it gives a large stack height which makes it even harder to walk in them. You should go for mountain bike shoes and M520s, or road shoes with road pedals.
  • ok, thanks for your help.

I faced the same issue and plumped for MTB pedals and shoes for both. I am sure the purist road fraternity will frown heavily on me, but hey - it seems to work well.
