What's the opinion on a split ride over several hours, ie dinner in the middle? or for that matter going to work, say 30+ miles each way commuting, do either of those count?
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.
  • I would think a 'Cafe stop' for tea and cakes is ok, but 2 rides split by a day at work is 2 x 30 mile rides so wouldn't count.

Yeh I'm out so early on and not due to injuries either, damn family wedding in Auz killed my hopes of a Feb metric

Still I plan to carry on knocking out metrics just to see if I can beat my own record last year.

Good luck everyone and well done for getting through this terrible weather in Jan/Feb roll on the summer.

Beautiful ride this afternoon out through the Vale of Belvoir up to the castle, south towards Oakham then back west to home - just under 120kms. Nice to be able to ride without a fleece under the jacket, and the gloves even came off for a while...

Thanks again to Velo for creating this challenge - not only am I getting fitter I'm also seeing some beautiful countryside that I never knew existed virtually on my doorstep.

It's been a great couple of days so far in March, each morning I've wanted to extend a commute, not likely to hold until Saturday is it?
I like the Vale of Belvoir, but tend to head the other way towards the Peak district.
Glad you're enjoying the challenge, the first year I did it it gave me that added push to go out each month.

Took the day off work to do my March ride today. Great weather for it - spring is definitely on its way :)

My rear gear cable broke though so my bike is now stuck in top gear. Fortunately I was within 1 mile of the finish when it happened. Phew!

Another run posted today; this is becoming addictive but I am sure that Autumn will bring a cure.

Oh dear I am becoming a serial poster but at least I recognised an addiction in my previous post.

Here is another kind of relevant stat. Rides this year amount to 1310k and 8496m vertical; respectively 97% of the JOGLE distance and 96% of Everest altitude. I think I will aim at 5x the two yardsticks in 2010 and perhaps 6x next year.

    Good luck to you GBS.

Thanks Velo, I'm finding it so much harder this year, went for a second this month and after 40miles had no commitment.

Hopefully some good weather will spur us all on next month.

I have updated. I found the 20-25kph headwind quite tiresome on the way out ie W/SW to Windsor and not much help on the way back to Fulham.

I am pleased to say that I scalped 3 roadies on the last hill of the the day, Dark Hill in RP.
