    Just for the record, Wiggins is a TT specialist, he is current GB National TT champ and he soft pedalled majorly in comparison to 80% of the other riders in Stage 1, and it is only 11k @ 50km/hr so should have done much better.

    Wiggins is pathetic, silver and bronze world TT medalists are no opposition are they. he is so lightweight its shameful.

    He should have torched it. Indeed he went faster, or pretty much the same speed in Paris Nice last year...and there was bad rain plus a helicopter annoying/causing wind.

    I can't believe I'm saying this.... but I agree with FF. Wiggo should have done better in this one.

    If I was finishing ahead of Martin and Larsson at this stage, I'd be fairly happy. Can't imagine they were soft-tapping. Rogers & Rasmussen will be further ahead due to winter activities I guess.

    Yeah FF - this is rubbish to be fair - you're over-reacting to compensate for what you perceive to be all the "Team Sky" lovers out there...
    2nd is fine for BW - he will be a bit disappointed not to have got first I reckon too, but will probably feel that this is on track for his season.
    I think we are all agreed that he is not a Contador, so there is no shame in working towards his Grand Tour aspirations and he is still pretty quick at a TT....

    I don't think stage 4 of the Ruta Del Sol was high up on Wiggins' races to target at the begining of the season. I'd like to see the critics on here beat Tony Martin and Michael Rogers in a TT.

    Do you realise the concept of a forum is to debate things? That means having opposing views and discussing them.

    I'm not a Wiggins fan at all but this was a good ride. How many TT's has he won as a pro? I can think of 2 or 3. If you get beaten by Rasmussen (who's been doing 6 days all winter) and just ahead of Tony Martin I think you're in good shape.

    Wiggins just doesn't have the record to indicate he'd rinse everyone in this race.

    There's no shame in adjusting your opinion based on new evidence. I used to say Cavendish wouldn't ever be a good sprinter. So I was wrong, it doesn't keep me up at night.

    Yep, a lot of cr*p being written on this thread, but it's good to be controversial so no worries!

    Fact is, Wiggins' training is carefully designed so he peaks in July. If anything, this result shows that he's a bit ahead of schedule.

    FF you should stay commenting on this thread so when Dave Brailsford or Bradley Wiggins read it they'll realise they've been doing it wrong and employ you as an advisor.
