I would like to use a single ring up front but I need it to be fairly small (32T at the moment) so that I can winch up those big hills. What would be the best size to use with an 11-32 on the back? Would an 11-34 cassette make much difference?

There is not a lot between a 32 cog and a 34 but when your winching yourself up a climb into the wind and your still 10 miles from the end of the trail that few percent might mean the difference

Well thats the excuse I use for having a 11-34 cassette

  • You can get quite a few chain guides/bash rings now for double rings up front...assuming that's why you a single up front?
