Hi guys hope you can help

Im planning to a spring ride to my parents house in shropshire from manchester, my route was going to be A56 then onto the A49. I see no trouble on the A49 as there are routes round the large bypass sections but not too sure about the A56. Is it safe to ride on dual carriageway even if just for a short distance??

Cheers

  • Try and keep off it, even if it means doing a few more miles. There are other roads running in the same direction which will be much more pleasant.
  • I would be more comfortable using A56 to Altrincham then going to Hale/Ashley (B5357)then through Tatton park, knutsford to middlewich (B5081) then onto Nantwich (A530) and on through to Whitchurch (A530/A525). Still a few busy roads, but defo quiter than A56 - and if you look at the route from Manchester to Whitchurch, it is a slightly straighter line.
If I can feel the pain in my arse, I mustn't be hurting my legs enough.
