My Hubby managed to give himself a hernia carrying computers and monitors around work yesterday, so has anyone else suffered a hernia and did it affect your riding?
Hubbys is a Epigastric hernia which is above the belly button.
We don't want to have to stop going out on the bikes really.
Anyone got any useful info?

Yup, booked him in today, even though he told me not to
The doc said cycling is ok, but i think he thought roadie stuff, not off road stuff.

So long as the hernia isn't trapped they aren't dangerous just uncomfortable. If it was trapped the doctor would have arranged for surgery to sort it out urgently. It doesn't stop you cycling but heavy lifting should be avoided.
If he's worried then see the doctor again for his advice.0 -
wel lif you do go for a ride, i'd suggest you take it very easy.
You use a lot of core muscles riding MTBs!0 -

He's going to get an appointment through the post to see the surgeon, but it's not a rush job ( so far)
He'll have to take it easy at work, get the kids to do the lifting lol

Should be ok on towpath rides then?
We had a run to Whalley planned,and it's all tow path and flat bridleways there, 10 miles ride then the train home :
