  • Halfords made a hash of the tape, so need to go buy some more and do it myself.. Other than that, they seem to have done a good job with it.

  • you can get a stem bracket to put it right ou of yoru way it will look ok too otherwise the bike looks good loving the zipp stem and bars Planet X are doing that stem for half price atm was tempted for my Focus Culebro but stuck with the Ritchey wcs they are as light as anything. Nice job though!

Dude I would rip them a new asshole if they screwed up my bartape like that. Do they not have eyes?

Did you not ask them to do it again?

    It's not that bad.
  • Its pretty bad, but I will speak to the main chap tomorrow, who is a top guy, sure he will sort some more out for slip me a tenner.

Went out for a quick spin, a whole world different to the Trek 1.5 I have!

Though didnt egg it due to the wet weather!!

Nice bike Squill... But why the 105 calipers?

Picked them up new (well had 10 miles use, but you couldnt tell) for £35. Rival would be better, but TBH, happy with the 105s for the cheap price.

The shifters need pushing further up on the bars
    I like bikes...

  • The shifters need pushing further up on the bars

Thats on my "to do" list.

Will be fixing that then re doing the tape (I assume I will have to bin the stuff thats on?)
  • you mean the tape? Well yes you will as it is rather sticky and leaves a very sticky residue and sometimes even parts of the tape behind on the bars,
A necessary but tedious process im afraid

  • Very nice Squill the zipp stem looks sweet.
    As do the Eastons

FYI I went with Michelin Pro 3 Race Tyre and Shimano 10 Spd Ultegra 6700 Cassette combo on my Eastons.

Not tried them out yet waiting for nice weather

You go straight to #1 spot with poss the best team carbon on Bike radar

Been out on her again tonight, soooo much quicker than my 1.5, still scared of crashing though!
  • Like the Boardman, i didnt know Halfords put bar tape on, but they have made a right hash of it. I would take it off before the adhesive sticks and have a go youself. There are plenty of videos on you tube thay show you how.

Ordered this today, as well as some more bar tape, going to do it myself, will give me an excuse to use my new workstand for the first time! (As I wont be able to use it for anything else until I learn how to lol!)

I like what they've done with the cabling through the headtube. Tidy. But is that a bunch of barrel adjusters hanging in mid-air?

That's how the Jagwire cables come, I believe.

Squillinossett, when you go to retape your bars, I would say to just tape up to the top bend, leaving the flat sections naked.
The flattend profiles look better like that, IMHO....

  • i agree i did it with my spec tarmac elite and the barmac wedge bars i fitted looks so much sweeter, naked carbon looks gourgous !!!!!

    Dude nice bike.

I've just got the plain old Team Carbon in black. One thing that has been bugging me, is that the cable routing/housing looks a bit long and messy as per your picture. Mine is the same.

I was thinking of re-cabling mine to look something like this:

    What do you think?

  • I dont see too much between them, bar the adjusters!
  • Perhaps its just me that thinks there's too much excess cable housing.
