A bike for my dad, for £5-600

My Dad wants to get a new bike as his raliegh hybrid isn't good enough for mtbing, which i've managed to get him into. He doesn't do jumps, but i might be able to tempt him onto some small ones later on, and he doesn't have a massive budget, so i was thinking a 100mm ht would be good. He's 5ft 10, so probably needs a medium. So what's best out of these? any other suggestions?

The Kula has the best spec, then the Decathlon, then the Hardrock.
But what do lyour local shops have? How about Halfords?0 -
That's a good idea, as decathlon is a long way to go.
Is the fury or boardman comp any good?
oh i just saw this - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165499
it looks really good value - only £150, and they reduced it from £410! It has lots of shiney things and it's cheap! i like it!
.... anyway, away from the bso's, which is better? the boardman or the fury?0 -
The boardman:

The fury:

So the fury has better forks, a better rear mech and wider tyres
the boardman is lighter, cheaper, and has better brakes0 -
But my local shops only have the boardman.
What about GT's?0 -
the gt agressor xc1 is available at my local stores and has quite good spec, but my dad doesn't need that much travel.0

The Boardman Sport is a good machine.0
