I don't know if any Londoners will be interested but I just got this in my inbox this morning:

WIN A CHANCE TO RIDE WITH TEAM SKY

On 4th January 2010 Team Sky will be presented to the world's media at the official team launch in Central London.

We are giving you an opportunity to see the team first and join us for an exclusive ride with Team Sky. You will get the chance to meet the riders and ride with them as they make their way into the heart of the capital.

If you have a bike, are available at short notice in the London area on the day and would like to join us, then all you need to do is sign up to the Team Sky Facebook page and enter your details on the launch tab.

Places are limited, and we will randomly select 300 people from all entries to join the ride. If you are chosen we will contact you via SMS or email at 8am with the secret start location.

(The basefook group is ''Teamsky'' if anybody's interested)

    Shame I'm in Wales/Yorkshire.

  • Good stuff, amc! I've no idea what time it will be but aren't they texting you at 8am to let you know the secret location. They'll have to give everybody at least a couple of hours for everyone to get to the start location for a ride into town after the rush hour. I'd be surprised if it started any earlier than 11am.
  • I think the finish is to be at Millbank on the south bank, with riders notified before 8am Mon by text or email for a 9am start..... so right in the rush hour by the sounds of it

Heh, maybe there will be one of those rolling road closure police escort whatsits..... there will probably be 300 riders after all.

Isn't the Sky HQ somewhere out in West London? Maybe the start will be out there, then heading into town via some of the parks (i.e. less trafficky routes).

The start is a 9:00 several start points all heading to a central location. Should all be over by 10:00

Many thanks - those clever chaps at Sky texted last night to say it was a 9am start which should help me with the childcare (in fact, perhaps i should ask them to look after the kids too)
