Hey guys, I'm off to Tenerife in January for a week and am thinking of taking my bike. I'll be staying in the south, at a place called 'Adeje'. Has anyone got any advice as to any good routes....? I could just do the ride off and see where I end up but knowing me, once I start puffing and panting, it'll be a taxi home....!

Hi - I stayed in Adeje 3 years ago and had a great week of cycling around there. There is a nice road along the coast to the west through banana plantations to black sandy beaches near Los Gigantes. From there you can go inland with some pretty tough climbing. There is a superb road with a killer climb from the town of Masca. Unless you want to make it a very long day, you are probably best off to get a car and leave it near the top of this climb. You can do a nice loop starting there and go to the west all the way down the coast and make your way back up via Masca. From Adeje you can also ride all the way up to the crater of the Teide vulcano. The roads to the east towards Playa de las Americas are very busy and I would not ride on them. Enjoy your rides!
