    Swift's agent believes he is free to leave Katusha;

    The reason for Swift wanting to leave is that he was forced to sign Katusha's rider charter in May, following the positive dope test for their rider Christian Pfannberger. The charter meant the riders would have to pay up to five times their annual salary in the event of testing positive, which was a change to their terms and conditions.
    Oh dear. Swift needs a new agent and pronto because if he's getting uppity about anti-doping issues, he needs this handled a lot better.

    He isn't though is he? Rather he's using the change of conditions it represents as an excuse to break his contract.

    They are conditions that make his work safer, in theory at least.

    At best Swift has an excuse but he'll look like a weasel.

    +1
    This just makes him look a rat and does not reflect well on Sky at all. Suppose they are not bothered but will not be popular amongst other teams and there will be a time when they will want co-operation and will be told to shove it.
    How is it though that the shack can pinch pretty much all of astana's team and no-one bats an eyelid?

    Exactly Wicked, that's a point I was going to raise.

    You can see teams shutting down moves by Sky next year because of stuff like this. It's easy to make sure someone has a hard time winning.

    Yes, can't wait to see Katusha flexing their muscles in the peloton next year :roll:

    I have a pound that says they finish a rider higher up in Paris Roubaix than Sky.

  • Russia speaks.
    “Concerning rumours about Ben Swift moves to another team,” said the team’s press release, “Katusha declares that the English rider has signed a regular UCI contract until the end of 2010 season and that it will be respected.”

    Katusha saying again he's still there. And involving the UCI.

    Nice to see Nygaard's on the case and spinning at a high cadence.

    Looks like Brailsford entered a rider into a race without the rider in question having even signed a contract for the team. For a team that's supposed to raise standards in the sport when it comes to working properly and ethically, things look slapdash. Let's hope DB can learn a lesson or two.
