you know all the shenanigans they get upto in top gear, like the air traffic incident, the hicks on the american special and the car being reversed into by a lorry last week, is it real or all acted out?

I think it is all real. Just amazing how pianos keep falling on the Morris Marina, quite a bizarre run of luck.

It's a TV programme of course it's scripted... This ain't reality TV, they don't just film the boys and see what happens.

Wonder if the 'adventure' programmes TG sometimes do are scripted... I'm pretty sure that James and his Lambo colliding with that random car was no coincidence, the only damage being some water running out of the lambo :? .

But would clarkson really fall off a scooter on purpose? Seems a bit much... or am I reading too much into it.

suppose it depends how much of a budget they have to pay for the damage they do? what about the car wash they set on fire?

I thought for a minute they had left it out and then it appeared, like a sexy woman coming out of the ocean, with a swish of the hair.

    I stirred downstairs.....

Clarkson writes the (majority) of the script, and he's not stupid i.e. he knows how to make it seem real.

  • i think its all set up tbh... some of it is abit far, but its a laugh, so i watch it anyways.

personally think Jeremy is a legend aswell :L

  • parts are set up i.e the lambo

but parts such as the carablimp in restricted air space so close to commercial vehicles can not be scripted, it was also reported in bbc news after the day it happened and there was a formal baa investigation.

and some is set up by the others and watch it unfold on the third presenter i.e the dacia and the arctic lorry
  • You can tell it's scripted by the fact they're all terrible actors! Even James knew that his car was going to get hit by the lorry.
I do believe that Jeremy falling off the scooter in Vietnam (or wherever they were) was real though as he didn't really know what to expect, plus, that's the sort of thing they like to go wrong as it makes people think the rest of the stuff is real.

If it was all real, the insurance for that program would be so high, the BBC wouldn't be able to fund it!

It has set-pieces, like a kind of comedy "sketch", which they film around, but the majority of things are genuine.
Other things (mentalist red-neck hicks anybody?) are sort of set-up in a "light the blue touch paper, and run like hell" kind of way.

I'm pretty sure the part where James May acted like an irresponsible prick was real, I'll ask my flying instructor - he'll know - he knows EVERYTHING.

Thank you and good day to you.
