RockShox Reba Team - Preload, Rebound and Lockout

I have the above fork (the right way round now) on a new bike I got a few months ago. Ive only used it so far for commuting 8 mile round trip. Am planning to get out on a trail in the next few weeks.

The fork has 80mm of travel currently but can be changed to 100mm as far as I have read.

Do you think its worth doing this before I go out on a trail or just go ride it and see how I get on. Not looking to do anythting too big to begin with.

Secondly how difficult is it to change or should I get it done by my LBS?

    what version of the reba is it?

    coil or air?


    if the bike came with it at 80mm i would leave it.

    remove air then cap and the remove the spacer.

    have a look on srams pages for the how to in the service info.

    Reading up on other threads on teh forum I notice that changing to 100mm of travel may not be possible if OEM. Now my bike came with these forks so are they OEM?

    I can measure how much travel I currently have, but whats the most accurate way of doing this?

    they might or might not be changeable.

    measuring them will only tell you what you have now.

    I did the 85-100mm travel change on my Reba forks.
    It did make the bike more confident on descents,but in normal riding it wasn`t so noticeable.

    I did mine myslef,but waited until they were due a service.
    I`d just ride them for now and see how you get on.
