Hi

My bike was stolen and so I've given myself a £300 budget to get a new one.

Any suggestions out of these?

Haro Flightline Sport Mountain Bike 2009 - £303

Haro Flightline 1 DX Mountain Bike 2009 - £272

Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc Mountain Bike 2009 - £290

Felt Q220 Mountain Bike 2009

Or any other suggestions?

Thanks

Have a read of our What Bikes thread for more suggestions.

I take it you want a bike for general trails and cross country?

I'd avoid the Flightline and Felt due to cheap 7 speed gearsets, though you would ideally try the bikes out for size.
  • The bike would be a general all rounder for trails and about town. I'm looking to spend a bit more on replacing my racing bike.

Thanks, I've had a look at the thread now. I was hoping to find a bargain in the sales somewhere!!

  • Just looking for a second bike myself for less demanding local routes. Settled on a Carrera Vengeance at £270. Unusual to see hydraulic disc brakes at this price. Bike looks great too!.
  • For £300 I`d take a trip to Halfords and look at a Carrera Vulcan.
    2006 Giant XTC
    2010 Giant Defy Advanced
    2016 Boardman Pro 29er
    2016 Pinnacle Lithium 4
    2017 Canondale Supersix Evo

I also came across this one today: GT Aggressor XC 3

    Looked quite nice in halfords
GT Triple Triangle aluminium frame with hydroformed down tube.
Suntour XCM 100mm travel suspension fork with lockout.
    Shimano Acera 24 Speed gearing.
Tektro Auriga Comp hydraulic disc brakes.
    2.1" aggressive tread XC tyres.
    Alex ASD-1 disc specific rims.
    GT oversize bar and stem.

£270 with the 10% off from Halfords
  • why don't you try getting a better bike but second hand. Like a rockhopper or something.

Because 2nd hand bikes have no warranty, usually no way of testing, no back up and no free servicing.
  • I've been riding a GT Aggressor XC3 from Halfords for the last couple of years and it's been great.

Have ridden it on the red routes at CYB & Afan a number of times & also the red & black trails at Llandegla and never let me down.

Have recently upgraded to a Trek Fuel EX8 but still love that tough old GT.
  • Thanks for the tips guys... cancelled that Carrera order in favour of the GT Aggressor XC3.

Was a bargain at £270, now back to £450! Will even get a £20 voucher to spend too.

Will be interesting to see how it compares to my Kona.
  • I went for it to in the end at that price as well.

Collecting on Friday so fingers crossed!!!
  • Yep, collecting Friday too. Hey, hope they have more than one!!!

Look forward to hearing what you think.
