The more you run over a dead cat, the flatter it gets.

  • Bereavement is the deepest initiation into the mysteries of human life, an initiation more searching and profound than even happy love.

We mark the passing of the day of our birth every year.

The day of our death passes by unknown to us.

Wrong! If your choking in a pool of your own blood with your guts all over the floor you'd know about it.
  • Those of us who have no avocation for martyrdom must learn, when we realize how much neophobia remains built into the contraptions of "society" and "the State," the art of surviving in spite of them. In a word, we must "get wise" in both the Socratic meaning of the phrase and in the most hardboiled street meaning. Neophobia functions as an Evolutionary Driver, forcing the neophiliac to get very smart very fast."

  • The Gun Lobby says we need guns to protect ourselves from the present government. Heiligefliegendekindersheisse! -- Have they looked at the government lately? To protect ourselves against the current government we each need 1700 tactical nuclear weapons, at least 100 earth-to-air missiles, 50,000 flame throwers, 10,000 grenade launchers and at least a hundred times as many assault weapons as NRA now owns, plus biologcal and chemical (viral) weaponry. . Maybe instead of going to war with Washington, when they have us totally outgunned, we should try reasoning and negotiating with them?

    You misunderstand, young man.

You know about your death when it arrives, but you don't know in advance the date it will occur. Do pay attention.
