Hi, It's a nice route. fairly flat with some offroad alternatives and a good run through the lammermuir hills into Edinburgh. There's lots of reports here:

    Cheers geocycle
looking forward to off road bits and going past Glentress, seen as I'm an MTBer at heart :)
  • I did it (or the majority of it Edinburgh to Morpeth) in a long weekend a few years back, it's an excellent route and easily doable on a skinny tyred road bike. The Scottish section is good, but highlights have to be the coastal stretches in Northumberland and the castles. Well worth taking the out n back diversion to Linderfarne island too if the tides allow.

Northumberland coast is fantastic, coasts and castles is national route 1 i think??

Spend quite a few holidays up there (inlaws static caravan). Great pubs in Alnmouth. :)

I am back last week from a trip from Kelso to Amble and back, great scenery, lovely roads and small villages. Made up my own route, and really enjoyed it. Top marks for Seahouses.

Did Newcastle - Edinburgh in October 2008. Beautiful scenery, apart from Edinburgh Castle and environs where we hit the international tourist trail, very quiet. Highlight - the Wallace statue in the woods above the Tweed on the road to Melrose.
