After my post a while back about my boyfriend's aching wrists issue (& yes, I got the rude comments!), apparently pretty much all his joints are now aching, despite taking his bike to a bike shop to have them help with the set up.

So I was wondering if anyone knew of a chiropractor or sports massage person around the Bristol area who has a particular knowledge of cycling & their related issues?

Shame it has to be Bristol. I can recommend a very good Chiropractor who has a practice in Dartmouth and Exeter. NGale put me onto him when I was having trouble with my back. He is also a cyclist so knows from experiance about some of the problems we deal with. I get my appointments at reduced cost because I have private health cover (always useful to remember, you can pay through the nose for some chiropractors when paying privately) but even at full rate he costs £27 a session. Not unreasonable and even NGale can afford a twice monthly session.

Chiropractors are only of use with certain back conditions, so I'm not sure they're what you're after. A physio would seem the obvious first port of call.

    Yes - I recommend:

These guys sorted out my back, knee injury and so on - hey specialise in Chiropractic treatment, but will turn their hand to anything - Alison is the girl to speak to. My wife and most of her rowing club use the services of these guys - cannot recommend them enough!

They are on North View in Westbury park - Near Waitrose!

There is a really good company at the bottom of christmas steps in the centre of town.
Not sure if they are cycling specific but I found them really good when I had a few problems with my knee.

  • If none of the above are any good (sure they will be) go to DTR Clinic in Cardiff and ask to see Steve Cannon. He's treated top tennis players like Becker, Edberg on the ATP tour, athletes like Colin Jackson and boxers like Steve Collins as well as being an-ex 1st class rugby player in his younger days.

I travel from Wiltshire to see him with anything seriousish - he's fully qualified and the man and his staff are proper geniuses

Steve only charges about £32 per session.

Head down to Bristol Docks, ask about and get hold of Lucious Lil, she is very good with her hands, and charges only £50 a session....... just hope that you boyfriend doesn't already know her, if he does you might want to look for a different type of clinic. :P

She was called Olive and worked from a boat when I was last in need of such services.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

The last I heard they were working the docks in Portsmouth...it would account for my Petty Officer and his sick leave.
