Had a crash today, originally thought there was little damage to the bike, (none to me thankfully) however got home and now have play in the bottom bracket. the crash involved pedal to car. whats most likely to be damaged the bottom bracket or the frame?

just to add the cog moves side to side when i apply pressure to the opposite pedal, and same the other way.

Do both crank arms wobble at the same time?

    New BB if they do.

Check the chainrings for damage & the crank arms too

im not sure i need to get it assessed but the impact was through the pedal, so i guess the whole of the drive chain moved is the bottom bracket more likely to collapse there appears to be a gap between the frame and the bracket.

think it is the bb, just want to find out if there is much chance of the frame having given way, the driver was at fault.

some pics of the damaged area will help asses what else could be damaged too.

Getting it assessed by a bike shop might be a good idea as the frame may have been damaged too, a good LBS will be able to tell you if the frame is straight and OK to use.

driver gave me their business card. how much is a lbs likely to charge? not much damage to their car built like a tank. just cant believe i was fine, im sure my foot was on the pedal on impact by rights i should have had at least a broken foot.

if you explain to them what happened they should look at it and give you an official quote that you can make a claim with
