    Hi Japsy

I use 1000ma, I think there is a possibility that using too low a charge may mean that the fully charged signal is missed and they get overcharged - don't know enough so don't take my idea as gospel.

I think the usual thing is that you can charge at 1c (i.e 1C for a 2000mah battery is 2000ma), so I charge at 1000, which is about 0.4c so should be safe.

I don't know the technoline, but you need to do a refresh/analyse or test to see the capacity whilst discharging from a full charge. Just looking at what it has put in whilst charging is no use. Mine will probably put in 3000mah but the capacity on discharge is likely around 2400-2500mah.

Ah, that could explain why I've had two cells die on me with very little use. I'll get some new ones and charge at a higher current (think the max for my charger is 700mA).

Muchos gracias, some things to try out.
  • I'm looking for rechargeables for my fenix TK10 which runs CR123 batteries.
Can any of the resident battery experts advise me on which is best please?

    Seen this http://www.fenixtorch.co.uk/batteries/r ... eries.html
on the fenix site. Any good?

Not an expert but you can get batteries from DealExtreme. Example. They take a while to deliver but people on here seem happy. The cells are only $4.90 for a pair. Cheap chargers available too and probably signficantly cheaper than the link you have sent.

Compare this with this. Significantly cheaper and they look the same to me.
  • Chuff me! My new DealExtreme torch arrived, sans batteries. Not to worry, it operates off a single AA. Tried it next to a mate's £70 bike light, very little difference (bar the order of magnitude in price). Hopefully the Lithium Ion batteries and charger will arrive soon, as they boost the input voltage from 1.5V to 3.7V, effectively making it brighter than the damn sun!!

I have spots in front of my eyes already. :D

+1 Edinburgh is all Woolen mills, tourists, shortbreat, tartan and Greyfriers Bobby. Glasgow has more realism. We after all cancelled the Aiport Train link as would be a waste of money, whereas Edinburgh has gone ahead with the grossly overpriced Parliment and Tram system.

  • Just checked out the review on here for the Blackburn, looks good. The related review was interesting too:

Looks more than a little similar to the one I just got from DX:

Unless you look at the prices!

I wondered what the huge roadsworks were in the middle of the place..yay more places for commuters to fit front wheels in ....tram tracks
Seriously though, I did like the place.
    I actually tried Haggis
I have a sneaking suspicion that the Haggis the Mrs bought there is on the menu tonight as her Mum (a Scot) is coming over for dinner.
I tried Black Pudding too but I can't say as I liked it, considering that I had seen how it was made a couple of years ago.

Just received my new Lithium batteries from DX. My little torch is truly blinding now. Re-tested it against my colleagues £80 NiteRider, there is no comparison. My little £7 torch provides at least twice the power. Beware drivers of Edinburgh, there will be spots before your eyes!
