eg: the kart applied the brakes (hence the lights) and the "cars" emergency braking system sees the lights and applied the brakes! and maybe kits the foam pad.

assemble cranks and fit.
(no pic)
next problem the rear disc.
solution. move spacers to between calliper and adaptor as the disc was also catching on the calliper body.
also chain tugs were fitted to help with aligning the wheel as it waqs being run "short" on the drop outs.
Done.

As known the two bosses were going to be away visiting Shimano.
But they did not tell me that a "practicant" (Student placement) was meant to start this week, Well I sent him home as there was nothing for him to do. They can sort him out on Wednesday.
so a few services and made a start on sorting out the shelves. So much stuff that is scrap but might be useful.

here is a bit of fun from the weekend.
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown
could have done with that at uni!
Just after doing a frame swap.
this lot:
to
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown
the frame had been sand blasted and painted and the headset cups and fork fitted and came with a few bits to be fitted.
first job remove the tape from the threads.
then chase the threads.
remove the handle to allow the facing tool to be fitted.
Fit the facing cutter.
then face the BB faces.
Not fully done
Done
Other side
remove tool and clean.
more in a bit.

now fitting.
check the width for the right number of spacers.
insert cup by hand.
and then tighten.
assemble cranks and fit.

BB change and gear set up on a road bike with a Sram groupset.
I like the double tap shifters.
then came a Marin.
A steel framed Marin with problems.
I wont say what was wrong i will just put up the pics.
Sorry have to go back to the rear mech
So the first thing was to see if the frame was savable.
straightening the mech hanger.
next post.
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown
then it is make sure that it is correctly aligned by measuring around the rim.
when it is all the same it is right.
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown
it had been in for years and i had already split the cup on the non drive side.
great tool that screws into the BB axle as well
and out it comes.
Lovely.
so how to get the cup out as you can not use a BB tool.
next post.
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown
Insert a Hacksaw.
and make some cuts.
and then knock the pieces of Pie out.
then chase the threads out and clean the BB areaready for the new BB.
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown
Yes and do the same on any cup the alloy ones may need a few more cuts and a bit more force.
But they tend to not fail as often.
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown
The rear mech is about as gunked up as the ones I usually get to work on too, why oh why do folks let them get so bad
will provide images later.
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown
Looked unrecoverable to me, cracking job.
it varies. in the case this mech hole is slightly Oval now. One more big bend and it will be a failure, Note this was a steel frame.

servicing servicing and deciding to do nothing to a road bike as it would be better to let it all wear out rather than changing the chain.
But it will be getting new drivetrain in the spring.
Today's build.
well just the start as we needed to see what we had and what we needed.
and as the BB will be external it started with a chase and face.
then it was decided to face the disc mounts.
Fit the tool axle.
fit the cutter and face.
will continue with this next week.

and a blast from the past.

Think they're Marzocchi DH3s if I'm not mistaken, from around 95-96ish, when I very first got into MTBs and 80/100mm was considered plush!
